Even though SAR Controllers are not management, we are not allowed to join a union.

Just saw your site-- appreciate your comments about AFGE. As you suggest, we are reviving our local at CG HQ-- we recently bargained the first ever agreement establishing a grievance and arbitration procedure, and have named stewards under that agreement. We have also petitioned to consolidate all AFGE units nationwide, which should strengthen the voice of CG civilian employees. You are correct about MLC-- AFGE also represents Wooods Hole, Area/Sector NY, NVDC, FinCen, 5th District, ISC Miami, Kodiak and Ketchikan, CG Island, Yard and ELC, and several other locations--about 2500 eligible to join. Employees in locations that don't currently have union representation are welcome to contact me directly at (202) 639-6410, or at winchp@afge.org

Also, forgot to mention, the OPM LAIRS site is incorrect--NTEU does not now and has never represented USCG HQ or any USCG unit.
